"Pavana per un Incontro" is a contemporary reinterpretation of the Renaissance pavane. A slow, solemn dance later revisited by Romantic composers. In his Pavane, Giovanni Palumbo establishes a measured, almost ritualistic character, a ritual quality that undergoes a distinct rhythmic and expressive shift as the piece unfolds all reimagined through a modern harmonic and expressive language.
